To The Gardener
To The Gardener is a 20 page cut-and-paste zine I created to mark my first gardening experience over the summer of 2014. It was initally released as a run of 50 printed copies which were available for free at the front counter of the Wild Oak Café in Armstrong, BC (thanks Heidi).
That summer, I got a rototiller and began churning the grassy lawn into a pulp which would become my first lesson in what not to do. Other lessons are shared within, alongside a recipe for a delicious okra dish Nur would always make — handwritten by my mom.
A few years after releasing this zine, the strangest thing happened. I was waiting for a coffee at the old Bump N Grind Café on Commercial Drive browsing their impressive zine collection when I discovered this one! I was completly floored, having found it 500+ kilometers from where I had released it. The world is full of surprises.
