About Found You Magazine

Found You Magazine is an independent print publication founded in 2020 by editor and publisher Kolton Procter on unceded Coast Salish territories (Vancouver, Canada). The magazine brings together inspired, unconventional work by emerging and established writers and artists, creating space for personal perspectives, overlooked experiences, and voices that challenge familiar ways of seeing the world.

Across essays, personal writing, poetry, visual art, and experimental forms, Found You Magazine values originality, vulnerability, and the unexpected connections that emerge when people share their experiences openly. Each issue is shaped around a broad theme, approached not as a prescribed subject but as an invitation to explore its personal, cultural, and imaginative dimensions. The result is a publication that moves between literature, contemporary art, and independent culture, guided by the people and ideas that give each issue its character.

Since its founding, the magazine has grown into an ongoing platform for creative exchange, bringing together contributors and readers across disciplines and geographies. Its work has been featured on The Stack by Monocle, and Issue 3 was shortlisted for a Broken Pencil Zine Award. The magazine has also been exhibited as part of Copy Machine Manifestos: Artists Who Make Zines at the Vancouver Art Gallery, reflecting its place within a wider culture of independent publishing and artist-led print.

Issue 4 marked a new chapter with the introduction of the Found You Magazine podcast, extending the publication’s conversations beyond the printed page. Alongside the magazine, the podcast creates room for deeper discussions about creative practice and the ideas, experiences, and occasional difficulties that shape the work of writers and artists. The issue also reached an expanded international readership through a partnership with UK-based Stack Magazines, bringing the publication to subscribers across the UK, Europe, and North America.

Found You Magazine is made for curious readers who value thoughtful writing, contemporary art, and the inner worlds of others. It is an evolving project built around the belief that sharing our experiences can change how we see ourselves and one another.

Submissions

Submissions are welcome year-round, with theme-based open calls announced periodically. There are no fixed criteria or preferred formats. We encourage work that feels personal, original, exploratory, or difficult to categorise. If you have something to share, send us a selection of your work alongside a short introduction to yourself and your practice.
